Prologue:
‘Can you believe it?’ Cherie, the reddish blonde girl squealed. Beside her, Vick the black-haired girl nodded.
‘Yep. We finally get to play, here in Florida. Can’t wait!’
‘Imagine all the attention we are going to get. The exposure god maybe team scouts!’
‘Hope so.’ Vick answered Cherie nudged her playfully.
‘Oh, come on! Be positive! We could get spotted.’
Vick didn’t reply immediately. They had made a little pact. The goal to somehow break into the NHL. It is one of the biggest sporting leagues in the world, some of the best hockey players have played there. If only there was a chance, they could get in. She knew the odds were slim. But they were here now, and there would be a chance someone was watching. Sometimes all you needed was an opportunity and someone else willing to give it to you.
‘All right well I’m ready! Are you?’ Cherie asked?
‘Yep.’
‘Ready for me to kick your ass?’ Cherie added jokingly brining a smile from Vick. She slugged her friend’s arm.
‘Not before I kick yours!’
