I remember some years ago when I got asked how I ever manage to come up with ideas to write stories. Well, like most writers in the past and present imagination and inspirations come into the equation. Although many of my stories are some what romantic and fantasy based (like coming up with situations that aren’t really likely to happen). Some of the inspirations I have got are from sports scenarios, movies, songs and real-life events. But most of all what I write comes from what I think and feel @ a particular time. A few of my stories are born through random thoughts.
All my Westlife fics are generally based around Mark- well he is my fave ‘Lifer! haha.
For those of you who have read the “About me” page from my Westlife site will know where the above paragraph came from. But instead of extending all that on the site, I figured it would be a lot easier to just write it here. Besides, if I wrote all the other bits and pieces on the “About me” page it would sound and definitely look like I’m trying to promote myself! LMAO. But I can say with some great deal of confidence that I ain’t trying to do such a thing.
Whenever I decide to write a story I decide that I want to write something that I can partly relate to. If it some how looks similar to another fan fic or something of the sort it’s never on purpose. You see, while I do enjoying reading other fan fics (very enjoyable for sure) when I write my own I like to do it with my own ideas and I have no intensions whatsoever to copyu anyone’s. After all, what’s the fun in that eh? No point stealing somebody’s idea when you are quite capable of creating you own.
So..how in the world do some of my story ideas come to me? In all inds of wasy. Sometimes I’ll be sitting in class listening to the uni lecture’s going on…and on about their choosen topic (how exciting!) when suddenly out of the blue some idea comes to mind. I’ve had ideas come when I’m asleep or sometimes as I watch tv. Usually no all the ideas I write down becuase some are just for the fun of it, while others can be worthy to take note of. As a matter of fact, just the other night as I was about to fall asleep and the thought of a fic relating to mark and his recent news and stuff came to mind. At first it sounded kinda ridiculos..because to me writing about true life stuff is good but there are times when it can take away what fan fics are all about. Who knows I might still write it but we shall wait and see.
One of best ways to me in writing fics is from music. Yes, yes alright that sounds a bit stupid and maybe it is. But Music myrics and the songs tell it’s own story, a story not every one is able to digest.
We all reckon a song is just that…a song. But in real hindsight there is heaps more hidden behind just a pop/rock/classical song. I ain’t too sure when it was, but many years ago I remember hearing this one song (no clue what it was- but that is besides the point.) and it just seemed to have struck a sentimental chord in my head. From that day onwards I had told myself instead of just listening to a song for what it was, take time to try and read the meaning, you won’t always get the true blue meaning from the song writer or even the singer but @ least get a meaningful reading from what you can. And since then I’ve always done it.
